Hello, I’m Sedar

Breath for Physical Awareness

As a young woman, I was an avid mountain runner with a deep appreciation for nature. During long-distance runs through mountain trails, I became fascinated by the relationship between my mind, body, and breath. I carefully observed how my feet met and left the earth, how I landed with each stride, and how proper alignment supported my entire body. The more aligned I became, the easier my breathing felt. I felt lighter against gravity, discovered a natural rhythm, and found myself running with greater ease and less fatigue.

As I encountered steeper climbs, I began paying close attention to the areas of my body working the hardest. Rather than focusing solely on my labored breathing, I learned to expand my awareness beyond my lungs, consciously connecting my breath with my entire body. I found that as my breath, body, and attention began working together, I could move through the climb with greater ease. I later shared this approach with my students, referring to it as “direct conscious breathing,” while teaching cardiovascular conditioning and body alignment at one of Jackson Hole's premier athletic clubs.

Reflexology

Those years awakened a further fascination to the foundation in which we rise from, our feet. and eventually led me to being certified as a Reflexologist, a non invasive therapy that applies pressure to targeted points on the feet and hands. Each one corresponds to a specific organ and system in the body. It is highly valued for significantly reducing stress, promoting relaxation, improving blood circulation, alleviating pain, and supporting better sleep quality.

Breath for Mental Awareness

Today, my studies have focused on ancient Hindu breathing and meditation practices under the guidance of my respected spiritual teacher, Yogacharya Dharmananda (Swamiji) of India, who now lives and teaches in the United States. His teachings are rooted in ancient Hindu traditions that have been preserved and passed down through thousands of years, emphasizing meditation, self-inquiry, and the wisdom that naturally arises through a quiet and attentive mind.

My practice also includes Shamanic Breathwork, a guided breathing practice that incorporates tribal music and other instruments for expanded states of awareness while inviting participants to explore the deeper landscape of the body, mind, and consciousness. Together, these traditions deepened a profound connection between breath, meditation, and our innate capacity for healing, insight, and self-discovery.

Today, through Willow Sage & Sedar, I bring together my experience in movement, body awareness, reflexology, breathwork, meditation, and conscious living. My intention is to create a safe and compassionate space where others can quiet the mind, awaken their own inner wisdom, and experience greater balance, peace, and well-being.

Building quiet spaces

During my years in health and wellness, I also became a single mother. My greatest desire was to be a stay-at-home mom, so I knew I needed to create a livelihood that would allow me to do just that.

Remembering the skills my grandfather had taught me as a young girl, I picked up a hammer and began teaching myself to design and build handcrafted furniture, eventually becoming known for my custom Shepherd and Gypsy wagons. After completing my seventieth wagon, I quietly put my tools away, sensing that chapter of my life had come to an end.

Yet throughout those years, there remained a quiet knowing that I was meant to be of service in another way. During one of my many trips to visit family in Colorado, I experienced a profound inner calling. Having recognized similar moments throughout my life, I trusted what I felt and embraced what would become the most meaningful chapter of my journey—guiding others through the transformative practices of breathwork and meditation.

Today, as the founder of Willow Sage & Sedar, I bring together more than four decades of experience in movement, body awareness, reflexology, breathwork, meditation, and conscious living. For many years these experiences appeared unrelated, each following its own path. It wasn't until I immersed myself in the practices of breathwork and deep meditation that I realized they had been quietly preparing me for the work I do today.

Over time, I came to understand that as we begin to let go of the stories we tell ourselves, the roles we play, and the identities we cling to, life has a way of weaving every experience together. What once seemed like separate chapters become part of a greater unfolding, gently revealing who we have always been beneath the noise of the mind.

Through Willow Sage & Sedar, my intention is to offer a safe and compassionate space where others can reconnect with themselves through the breath, quiet the mind, and discover the wisdom that already resides within. Every step of my journey has led me here.
